Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic to Renovate

Seattle’s landmark Fairmont Olympic Resort will undergo a significant renovation to the lobby, meeting spaces, and food & beverage outlets in the first one half of 2020, the resort announced in a news release Tuesday.

The hotel will stay open for business through the renovation, which will get started in January and is likely to be completed by summer.

“This magnificent landmark building from 1924 is evolving for a new era,” said General Manager Markus Treppenhauer. “Seattle is a fast-changing city and our story within the city’s history remains unchanged, yet, as we approach our centennial anniversary, we are bringing new life to the design, culinary offering, and the experience across the hotel.”

The hotel’s first major public space renovation to be undertaken in four years will also start to see the transformation and reopening of the area occupied by The Georgian restaurant through the dinner hour. The Georgian had previously offered supper service, but the resort discontinued that in 2015 citing slack demand.

Now re-opening for supper, The Georgian will “be defined simply by its soaring classical framework”, but receive updates on the type of bold shapes and latest approaches to lighting.

A good retooled menu will deliver “unforgettable meals” for friends and Seattle residents alike.

The lobby renovations includes the addition of a central bar, that will transition service through the complete periods of your entire day. It will start the day as an espresso bar, transitioning to afternoon tea and later hand-crafted cocktails. Many accommodations have added multi-phase service outlets with their lobbies to revitalize them as hubs for getting together with, which refresh will maneuver one step further by adding another “concealed” library bar wide open select times of the week.

The hotel could also refresh its key event spaces with design upgrades, new lighting, and contemporary function space technology. The vacation resort has over 28,000 square feet of function space. The Spanish Ballroom, the most significant space, gets the reception or theatre convenience of up to 750 attendees or banquet capacity for 500.

Constructed on the initial weblog of the University of Washington, the Fairmont Olympic marks 95 years of service this kind of week, having initial exposed to guests upon December 6, 1924. The hotel’s guest bedrooms and corridors were previous refreshed in 2016.
