2019 Hurricane Season Travel Predictions

hurricane prediction for 2019
Hurricane season for the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean is between the months of June to November, and according to AccuWeather we should expect a normal to “Slightly above normal” weather during that time frame for the region.

According to the agency, we should expect somewhere between 12-14 storms during the 2019 hurricane season. They believe that out of those storms, an estimate 5-7 will develop into hurricanes, and maybe 2-4 of those storms will turn to be category 4 or 5s.

“This year, we think that there will be a few less tropical storms and lower numbers in hurricanes, but again, the old saying is ‘it only takes one’,” said Dan Kottlowski, a hurricane expert at AccuWeather.

Hurricanes and tropical storms tend to affect populated areas that cater to the tourism industry for economic growth, such as Florida and the Caribbean islands.  Popular beach areas that don’t tend to see strong hurricanes in the Caribbean are Aruba, Bonaire, Curaceo, Barbadoesa and Grenada.

Travelers headed to islands that are typically are impacted by hurricanes and tropical storms should be encouraged to purchase trip insurance prior to their departure. Our parter Tourradar offers free travel insurance quotes for travelers
